TS.BS. Truong Hong Son – Director of the Vietnam Institute of Applied Medicine suggested that the criteria for choosing a holiday home have a positive impact on physical and mental health.

– What is an ideal resort destination for you?
– I set 5 main criteria. First, the destination must be beautiful and have many interesting experiences. The second is the unique, strange and diverse element. The third is the location and travel distance, if the vacation is longer than 10 days, visitors accept one day to go and one day to return. But if the vacation time is shorter than only 2-3 days, usually tourists choose a destination with a distance of less than 4 hours. You won’t want to spend too much time commuting and not be tired when you arrive.
Next, the quality of the resort is very important, including infrastructure and services. And finally, the internal and external facilities, such as restaurants, entertainment, sports…
– As a doctor, how would you recommend choosing an ideal second home location in the current context?
– Regarding health, I want to emphasize stricter criteria. For example, if tourists like to stay near the sea, they should choose a sea with a cool and safe climate, calm sea, little whirlpool, suitable for sea sports activities. Regarding this criterion, the South Central Coast has the advantage of climate and blue sea, cleaner than other sea areas. The North or the South has the Red River and the Me Kong River, when it flows into the big sea, it carries alluvium, so the sea is not as clear as the South Central region.
Regarding the weather, for adults, the ideal resort temperature is in the range of 26-28 degrees Celsius, helping us to have a relaxing and comfortable experience for sports and entertainment activities… As for children For me, a temperature of about 26-30 degrees Celsius is suitable.
– Many families want to own a second home to improve their health, do you have an explanation for this trend?
– In the stage of building and developing a career, we always spend maximum time on work. However, as a health expert, I recommend that we ensure a reasonable working and resting time to ensure long-term productivity. There has been a lot of research showing that without enough rest, our bodies and minds cannot always be ready and healthy, leading to lower productivity.
That may be the reason that many families turn to when looking to buy a second home. The resort house will be a place where the family rests on the weekend, experiences and bonds together, thereby re-energizing so that they can return to work in a more focused and effective way at the beginning of the week. It helps us to feel that life is more meaningful and worth living.
One of the other health benefits of a second home is sleep. When coming to a second home in the suburbs or at the sea, our sleep is improved quite a lot. Our body needs 6-8 hours of sleep a day, if less, it affects our mental health, affecting our lifespan.
– One of the South Central Coast regions that is receiving special attention for second home is Phan Thiet. How do you evaluate the advantage of developing this second house model – this local resort house?
Phan Thiet has a long history as a resort capital and is famous for its clean air, calm and blue sea, ideal temperature, suitable for year-round resort, ensuring safety for health. In recent years, the highest average annual temperature in 2005 was 27.8 degrees Celsius; the lowest in 1996 was 26.8 degrees Celsius. This means that the average annual temperature has been quite stable over the past decades.
Regarding traffic links, Phan Thiet is located between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, since 2015 when the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway was deployed, it has shortened the time to about 4 hours. And when coming here, when the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet highway is completed, it is only about 1.5-2 hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City, meeting the need for a second home at the weekend for families.
– Phan Thiet is also a locality attracting the attention of the market when a number of large-scale multi-utility tourist complexes appear. It is also recognized by the market as being very attractive to both tourists and those looking for a second home because there are a number of large-scale multi-utility tourism complexes under construction. How does this reflect the resort trend in the near future?
– In the past 10 years, Vietnam has appeared many large resort – tourism complexes. This is a positive move that shows that the market can provide essential utilities and services to the people. We need to see that resort is not a luxury service but an essential need for life. Vacation helps our life to be healthy and happy, good for physical health and also for mental health.
Previously, Phan Thiet hardly had large-scale resorts and diversified utilities. Currently, I see that there have been well-planned projects here, contributing to raising the level of local tourism, such as NovaWorld Phan Thiet of Novaland Group.
